R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Certified athletic trainers have long provided
 1-2     quality health care to individuals involved in physical activity;
 1-3     drawing on the knowledge and skills acquired through their
 1-4     nationally regulated educational process, they offer a wide range
 1-5     of services, from the prevention of injuries to treatment and
 1-6     rehabilitation to health care administration, education, and
 1-7     guidance; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, Professional sports organizations, colleges and
 1-9     universities, high schools, clinics and hospitals, and corporate
1-10     and industrial settings all benefit from the expertise of certified
1-11     athletic trainers; and
1-12           WHEREAS, The trainers at CHRISTUS St. John Sports Medicine in
1-13     Nassau Bay, Texas, have proven themselves to be highly committed to
1-14     their profession and the clients they serve; these admirable
1-15     individuals include Betsy Brown, Emma Cable, Rick Carboni, Megan
1-16     Duncan, Jill Flowers, Ernie Garza, Chris Gleeson, Beverly Hartke,
1-17     Jeff Howlett, Patrick Lucas, Marni Miller, Bruce Nieschwitz, Lisa
1-18     Sowell, Cathy Supak, Karen Thompson, and Jenna Tubbs; and
1-19           WHEREAS, March 2001 was officially named National Athletic
1-20     Training Month by the National Athletic Trainers' Association,
1-21     which currently serves more than 27,000 members and includes 21,000
1-22     certified athletic trainers; the purpose of the event is to  raise
1-23     public awareness of the vital role played by certified athletic
1-24     trainers in the lives of physically active individuals, and it is
 2-1     fitting that we reflect on the significant contributions of these
 2-2     dedicated health care practitioners; now, therefore, be it
 2-3           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
 2-4     Legislature hereby recognize March 2001 as National Athletic
 2-5     Training Month in the Lone Star State and extend to the certified
 2-6     athletic trainers at CHRISTUS St. John Sports Medicine in Nassau
 2-7     Bay sincere appreciation for their diligent work in behalf of their
 2-8     fellow Texans.
