                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The congregants of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist
 1-2     Church in Houston take great pride in their pastor, the Reverend
 1-3     Charles Lewis Jackson, for he has shared his wisdom and guidance
 1-4     with them as the head of their church the past 32 years; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, Reverend Jackson holds a bachelor of theology degree
 1-6     from the Institutional Baptist Theological Center and an honorary
 1-7     degree from Union Baptist Bible College and Seminary; he has drawn
 1-8     on his education and wealth of experience during his years with the
 1-9     church to both support and inspire its members and to move the
1-10     church forward to keep pace with the diverse needs of today's
1-11     rapidly changing society; and
1-12           WHEREAS, His achievements as a member of the clergy are
1-13     legion and include the establishment of numerous outreach
1-14     ministries, as well as a day care, drill squad, school, bookstore,
1-15     and family life center; and
1-16           WHEREAS, Reverend Jackson's myriad responsibilities find him
1-17     serving as counselor, teacher, and trainer; he has studied and
1-18     taught at national and international venues and has shared his
1-19     faith with countless individuals through several media in an effort
1-20     to reach a broad audience; and
1-21           WHEREAS, This esteemed man has received a host of
1-22     well-deserved accolades, including certificates of appreciation
1-23     from public officials at the local, state, and national levels, and
1-24     he has been honored with a listing in Who's Who in Religion and the
 2-1     Encyclopedia of London as the first African American minister to
 2-2     televise live from a sanctuary; and
 2-3           WHEREAS, In recognition of his 32nd year as pastor of
 2-4     Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, it is most appropriate to
 2-5     honor Reverend Jackson for his exemplary service; now, therefore,
 2-6     be it
 2-7           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
 2-8     Legislature hereby commend the Reverend Charles Lewis Jackson on
 2-9     the occasion of his 32nd pastoral anniversary at Pleasant Grove
2-10     Missionary Baptist Church and extend to him sincere best wishes for
2-11     continued success; and, be it further
2-12           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-13     prepared for Reverend Jackson as an expression of highest regard by
2-14     the Texas House of Representatives.
