                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Betty Blanton Crabtree is most deserving of special
 1-2     legislative recognition for her valuable contributions and ongoing
 1-3     efforts in the Hood County community; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, A direct descendent of Collin McKinney, the oldest
 1-5     delegate to the Convention of 1836 and the one who was given the
 1-6     pen used to sign the Texas Declaration of Independence,
 1-7     Mrs. Crabtree is a seventh-generation Texan who is actively
 1-8     involved in the local genealogical society in Hood County and the
 1-9     Comanche Peak Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas;
1-10     moreover, she shares her extensive knowledge of genealogy as well
1-11     as her love of birds with students in area schools; and
1-12           WHEREAS, Mrs. Crabtree met her husband, Charles, when they
1-13     both worked for Consolidated Vultee Aircraft, and they were married
1-14     in 1949; they raised four children, and she considers helping her
1-15     children to become caring and responsible adults her greatest
1-16     accomplishment and the one of which she can be most proud; and
1-17           WHEREAS, Following retirement, the Crabtrees moved to a home
1-18     on the Brazos River in Hood County, and over the last decade, this
1-19     proud Texan has made countless contributions to the residents of
1-20     Granbury and the surrounding area; and
1-21           WHEREAS, Mrs. Crabtree is a fitting example of someone who
1-22     lives life to its fullest extent; with her optimism, bright
1-23     outlook, and sunny disposition, she has been a shining light in her
1-24     community, and it is indeed most appropriate to pay tribute to this
 2-1     fine woman at this time; now, therefore, be it
 2-2           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
 2-3     Legislature hereby congratulate Betty Blanton Crabtree for her many
 2-4     good works and deeds in the Hood County community and extend to her
 2-5     sincere best wishes for happiness and good fortune in her future
 2-6     endeavors; and, be it further
 2-7           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-8     prepared  for Mrs. Crabtree as a token of high regard by the Texas
 2-9     House of Representatives.
