                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, November 26, 2000, is the 60th wedding anniversary
 1-2     of Gene Edward and Letha Maurine Hancock of Midland, and this
 1-3     occasion is most deserving of special recognition; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Married in Electra, Texas, in 1940, this loving
 1-5     couple have enjoyed six decades of wonderful memories together, and
 1-6     through the years they have watched their close-knit family grow to
 1-7     include one daughter, Barbara, and two cherished grandchildren; the
 1-8     Hancocks were honored for their milestone anniversary by their
 1-9     daughter and her family with a dinner at the Ranchland Hills
1-10     Country Club; and
1-11           WHEREAS, A captain in the United States Army Corps of
1-12     Engineers, Mr. Hancock is a military veteran of World War II and
1-13     was employed with Magnolia Pipeline for 35 years until his
1-14     retirement in 1983; the former Letha Maurine Ward has been a
1-15     dedicated homemaker throughout the couple's marriage; and
1-16           WHEREAS, Residents of Midland for the past 17 years, the
1-17     Hancocks lived in Libya, Nigeria, Plainfield, New Jersey, and
1-18     Seattle, Washington, before finally settling in Texas; active
1-19     members of their community, they have both been involved with the
1-20     Midland Association for Retarded Citizens; and
1-21           WHEREAS, Their union has yielded a relationship built on
1-22     trust, understanding, and mutual respect, and it is truly a
1-23     privilege to honor them as they celebrate 60 years of marriage;
1-24     now, therefore, be it
 2-1           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
 2-2     Legislature hereby congratulate Gene Edward and Letha Maurine
 2-3     Hancock on their 60th wedding anniversary and extend to them
 2-4     sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
 2-5           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-6     prepared for the Hancocks as an expression of high regard by the
 2-7     Texas House of Representatives.
