R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, December 29, 2000, was the 50th wedding anniversary
 1-2     of Ken and Mae Dawson of Midland, and this occasion is indeed
 1-3     deserving of special recognition; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Dawson have enjoyed five decades of
 1-5     wonderful memories together, and through the years they have seen
 1-6     their family grow to include four children, Joe, Jim, Jamie, and
 1-7     Debra, as well as 11 beloved grandchildren and four
 1-8     great-grandchildren; to commemorate this milestone anniversary, the
 1-9     couple were honored with a celebration in their home that was
1-10     hosted by their children and their spouses; and
1-11           WHEREAS, Married in Abilene in 1950, this loving couple moved
1-12     to Midland in 1954, where, with the exception of one year in
1-13     Brazil, they have remained; Mr. Dawson was employed as an
1-14     independent chemical engineer for many years and also served a
1-15     25-year tenure with the Texas State Guard as a brigadier general
1-16     until his retirement in 1987; a woman known for her creativity and
1-17     skills, the former Mae White was the costume designer for Midland
1-18     Community Theatre for 30 years; and
1-19           WHEREAS, Residents of Midland for more than 45 years, the
1-20     Dawsons are members of First Baptist Church and remain actively
1-21     involved in Friends of the Library, the Opera Guild, and the
1-22     Midland County Historical Society; and
1-23           WHEREAS, This joyous union has yielded a relationship built
1-24     on trust, understanding, and mutual respect, and it is truly a
 2-1     privilege to honor Mr. and Mrs. Dawson at this time; now,
 2-2     therefore, be it
 2-3           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
 2-4     Legislature hereby congratulate Ken and Mae Dawson on their golden
 2-5     wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for the
 2-6     future; and, be it further
 2-7           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-8     prepared for the Dawsons as an expression of high regard by the
 2-9     Texas House of Representatives.
