                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, At the 43rd Annual Grammy Awards ceremony, on
 1-2     February 21, 2001, the acclaimed Tejano band The Legends received a
 1-3     Grammy Award for Best Tejano Album for Que Es Musica Tejana?; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Formed after a 1997 backstage encounter at the
 1-5     Tejano Music Hall of Fame induction ceremony, this band truly lives
 1-6     up to its name, with such legendary members as Freddie Martinez of
 1-7     Corpus Christi, Carlos Guzman of Mission, Sunny Ozuna of San
 1-8     Antonio, and Augustin Ramirez of Austin; collectively, these
 1-9     artists have recorded more than 100 albums over a 30-year span,
1-10     playing Tejano music to generations of appreciative fans; and
1-11           WHEREAS, Their dedication and extraordinary talents
1-12     culminated in the spectacular album Que Es Musica Tejana?; produced
1-13     by Freddie Martinez and Hugo Guerrero at Freddie Records Studio in
1-14     Corpus Christi, this fine work includes contributions by a number
1-15     of other talented Tejano artists, such as Joe Morales, Ricky
1-16     Calderon, Jose Roberto Martinez, Roy Valdez, Lee Martinez, Hugo
1-17     Guerrero, and Steve Perez; and
1-18           WHEREAS, Exhibiting the greatness that has marked their
1-19     individual careers, the members of The Legends have together
1-20     created a remarkable album and a priceless contribution to the rich
1-21     tradition of Tejano music; now, therefore, be it
1-22           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
1-23     Legislature hereby congratulate The Legends on winning the 2001
1-24     Grammy Award for Best Tejano Album and extend to its members
 2-1     sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
 2-2           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-3     prepared for the members of The Legends as an expression of high
 2-4     regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
