R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives takes great 1-2 pleasure in welcoming a delegation from the cities of River Oaks, 1-3 Sansom Park, and Westworth Village to the house chamber; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Located in Tarrant County, these three towns are 1-5 united not only by their proximity but also by the desire of their 1-6 citizens to promote a true sense of community; and 1-7 WHEREAS, The city of River Oaks was built along the Trinity 1-8 River and flourished during the 1950s with the growth of General 1-9 Dynamics; the hub of River Oaks is the city complex, where the 1-10 library, city hall, and police and volunteer fire departments are 1-11 based, and local citizens contribute to the community's quality of 1-12 life through their involvement in the local chamber of commerce, 1-13 the Kiwanis and Lions clubs, and the Odd Fellow Lodge; and 1-14 WHEREAS, Initially known as Broad View Acres, Sansom Park was 1-15 developed when the area was subdivided by the Rosen Heights Land 1-16 Company in the 1920s; popular among Fort Worth residents in search 1-17 of a quieter place to call home, the city was officially 1-18 incorporated on March 24, 1949; the largely residential town has a 1-19 dedicated mayor and city council who are volunteering their time to 1-20 promote new growth and development for their city; and 1-21 WHEREAS, Westworth Village was incorporated in 1941 and 1-22 nearby Carswell Air Force Base proved to be a catalyst for the 1-23 community's development; although its residents embrace the 1-24 challenges and opportunities of the future, they remain in touch 2-1 with their rural roots, and the town still houses stables and is 2-2 home to the historic Buck Oaks Mansion; and 2-3 WHEREAS, The citizens of River Oaks, Sansom Park, and 2-4 Westworth Village can take justifiable pride in their respective 2-5 communities, and it is indeed appropriate that they be honored at 2-6 this time; now, therefore, be it 2-7 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-8 Legislature hereby recognize April 4, 2001, as River Oaks, Sansom 2-9 Park, and Westworth Village Day at the State Capitol and extend a 2-10 warm welcome to the visiting delegation.
