R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is pleased to
1-2 honor Officer David Henry for his exceptional service to the
1-3 Beaumont Police Department and as the executive director of its
1-4 Police Activities League; and
1-5 WHEREAS, Since starting his career with the department in
1-6 1984, Officer Henry has earned the respect and admiration of his
1-7 colleagues for his natural leadership abilities and tireless
1-8 dedication to duty, and in May 1994, when the department
1-9 established a program aimed at reducing crime committed by
1-10 juveniles, the Police Activities League (PAL), Officer Henry was
1-11 selected to serve as the program's executive director; and
1-12 WHEREAS, Now with more than 1,000 registered participants,
1-13 PAL provides year-round educational, cultural, recreational, and
1-14 athletic programs, and "Officer Dave's" numerous public appearances
1-15 at schools, churches, and civic groups around the Beaumont area can
1-16 be credited with encouraging widespread participation and support
1-17 of the effort; and
1-18 WHEREAS, Officer Henry has demonstrated the enthusiasm,
1-19 reliability, and flexibility essential for working successfully
1-20 with youth, and through his one-on-one approach, he has given the
1-21 participants in this innovative program a true role model and
1-22 mentor; as a tribute to the commitment of all involved, many of
1-23 these young Texans have been recognized with commendations and
1-24 awards; and
2-1 WHEREAS, It is truly a privilege to take this opportunity to
2-2 recognize Officer Henry for his noteworthy record of achievement
2-3 with the PAL program and to honor him for the lasting influence he
2-4 is having in the lives of so many; now, therefore, be it
2-5 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
2-6 Legislature hereby commend Officer David Henry for his outstanding
2-7 work with the Beaumont Police Department and extend to him sincere
2-8 best wishes for continued success in all of his future endeavors;
2-9 and, be it further
2-10 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-11 prepared for Officer Henry as an expression of high regard by the
2-12 Texas House of Representatives.
