R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of the Honorable M. Cordell Hull of 1-2 Austin and Fort Worth on February 14, 2001, at the age of 60, has 1-3 brought a great loss to the family and many friends of this 1-4 esteemed Texan; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Born on July 21, 1940, this Fort Worth native 1-6 graduated from North Side High School, where he lettered in 1-7 baseball, and earned his bachelor of arts degree in government from 1-8 The University of Texas at Austin; and 1-9 WHEREAS, In 1966, Representative Hull began a distinguished 1-10 tenure in public service when the people of Tarrant County elected 1-11 him to the Texas House of Representatives; in his three terms as a 1-12 representative he committed himself to the betterment of Texas, 1-13 participating on the House State Affairs Committee, serving two 1-14 terms on the Appropriations Committee, and working on the Committee 1-15 on Common Carriers as vice chairman and chairman; and 1-16 WHEREAS, Following his legislative service, Mr. Hull worked 1-17 in the insurance industry, then as a legislative representative for 1-18 various clients, including Signature Group, Montgomery Ward & Co., 1-19 and Union Fidelity Life Insurance Co.; in 1991, he became 1-20 legislative representative and executive director of the National 1-21 Association for Alternative Staffing; and 1-22 WHEREAS, An avid sports enthusiast, Mr. Hull belonged to the 1-23 Longhorn Foundation and was a season ticket holder who regularly 1-24 attended Longhorn football, basketball, and baseball games; he was 2-1 an excellent golfer and an outstanding cook, as well as a superb 2-2 and gracious host who often treated his family and friends to 2-3 lavish meals; and 2-4 WHEREAS, A loving father, a respected legislator and 2-5 businessman, and a caring and generous friend to many, Cordell Hull 2-6 enriched the lives of countless individuals and it is altogether 2-7 fitting to honor his memory; now, therefore, be it 2-8 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-9 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of M. Cordell Hull and 2-10 extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his 2-11 daughters, Lyndell Hull and Ashley Hull; to his brother, James Hull 2-12 and his wife, Dahlene; to his sister, Beverly Hull Reynolds and her 2-13 husband, Buddy; and to his other family members and many friends; 2-14 and, be it further 2-15 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-16 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of 2-17 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of the 2-18 Honorable M.
