R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, On March 16, 2001, Juan Lozano of Madero passed away 1-2 at the age of 84, bringing a profound sense of loss to the family 1-3 and friends of this esteemed Texan; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Born August 29, 1916, Mr. Lozano was a first 1-5 generation U.S. citizen whose life serves as a testament to the 1-6 values of hard work and integrity; in 1944, he married Guadalupe 1-7 Saenz Ochoa, with whom he had 4 sons and 5 daughters, and he 1-8 proudly watched his extended family grow to include 21 1-9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Early in his life, Mr. Lozano labored as a ranch 1-11 hand, breaking horses, tending to cows, and clearing brush for 1-12 settlements; later employed as a bricklayer, he played a 1-13 significant part in building Mission's landmarks, and then as 1-14 assistant deputy constable he contributed to ensuring the peace and 1-15 stability of the growing community; in 1967, after many years of 1-16 perseverence, Mr. Lozano achieved his lifelong dream when he 1-17 purchased his own ranch north of Mission; and 1-18 WHEREAS, A devoted husband and loving family patriarch, 1-19 Mr. Lozano was a lasting and enriching influence in the lives of 1-20 many, and it is indeed appropriate to take this opportunity to 1-21 honor his memory; now, therefore, be it 1-22 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 1-23 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Juan Lozano and 1-24 extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his sons, 2-1 Ernesto Lozano, Vicente Lozano, Juan Lozano, Jr., and Frankie 2-2 Lozano; to his daughters, Juanita Salinas, Eliza Lumbreras, Josie 2-3 Rodriguez, Nora Cavazos, and Elia Gonzalez; to his sister, Teresa 2-4 Pena; to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and to his 2-5 other relatives and many friends; and, be it further 2-6 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-7 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas 2-8 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-9 Juan Lozano.
