No. 720 77R11296 MJS-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Nacogdoches Central Heights High School girls' 1-2 basketball head coach Dayna Westbrook guided her team to the 2001 1-3 UIL Class 2A state championship this season, and this significant 1-4 accomplishment provides a fitting opportunity to honor this fine 1-5 coach; and 1-6 WHEREAS, A former member of the Tyler Robert E. Lee High 1-7 School girls' basketball team that compiled a 30-2 record and made 1-8 a Class 5A state finals appearance in 1986, Ms. Westbrook had a 1-9 distinguished playing career at Stephen F. Austin State University, 1-10 where she helped the Ladyjacks win four Southland Conference 1-11 championships and qualify for the NCAA Tournament four years in a 1-12 row; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Ms. Westbrook has been coaching for 10 years, the 1-14 last eight of which have been at Central Heights High School in 1-15 Nacogdoches; she has built a successful girls' basketball program 1-16 at the school and was selected as the District 21AA Coach of the 1-17 Year in 2000 and the District 23AA Coach of the Year in 2001; over 1-18 the past two seasons, the Lady Devils have won 60 games while 1-19 suffering only 11 losses; and 1-20 WHEREAS, She also demonstrated her versatility and abilities 1-21 as a coach by leading the Central Heights High School girls' 1-22 cross-country team to the state title in 1997; and 1-23 WHEREAS, Ms. Westbrook has worked to establish a tradition of 1-24 excellence at Central Heights High School; she is making a positive 2-1 impact in many lives, and it is indeed most appropriate to honor 2-2 her at this time; now, therefore, be it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-4 Legislature hereby congratulate Central Heights High School girls' 2-5 basketball coach Dayna Westbrook on her outstanding achievements 2-6 and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it 2-7 further 2-8 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-9 prepared for Ms. Westbrook as an expression of high regard by the 2-10 Texas House of Representatives.
