No. 729 77R11736 MW-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The family and friends of David Aaron Kaufman of San 1-2 Antonio suffered a great loss when this esteemed attorney passed 1-3 away on March 25, 2001, at the age of 48; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Born November 12, 1952, Mr. Kaufman graduated from 1-5 Emory University, where he was president of his fraternity, Phi 1-6 Gamma Delta, and earned his law degree from Emory University Law 1-7 School; and 1-8 WHEREAS, After law school, Mr. Kaufman worked for Coastal 1-9 States Gas Corporation until joining Valero Energy Corporation, 1-10 where he practiced energy regulatory law before moving to New York 1-11 in 1985; in 1990, Mr. Kaufman returned to Valero and worked as 1-12 senior attorney for seven years, after which he was employed by 1-13 PG&E Gas Transmission Texas until 2000, when he became senior 1-14 counsel attorney for El Paso Corporation; and 1-15 WHEREAS, A skilled lawyer with knowledge in both law and 1-16 business, Mr. Kaufman was admitted to the Texas, New York, and 1-17 Georgia state bars, and he was a member of the Texas State Bar 1-18 Association and San Antonio Bar Association; moreover, he served as 1-19 representative for the Association of Texas Intrastate Pipeline; 1-20 and 1-21 WHEREAS, A devoted husband and loving father, Mr. Kaufman 1-22 will long be remembered for his professional and personal success, 1-23 and his memory will undoubtedly live on in the hearts of the many 1-24 people whose lives he deeply touched; now, therefore, be it 2-1 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-2 Legislature pay tribute to the life of David Aaron Kaufman and 2-3 extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, 2-4 Susan; to his sons, David Brooks and Emmet Harrison; to his 2-5 parents, Dr. Ira and Dawn Kaufman; to his twin brother Charles, and 2-6 his wife, Jan; to his brother Jonathan, and his wife, Alison; to 2-7 his brother Thomas, and his wife, Gina; to his brother Justin; and 2-8 to his nieces, nephews, and other relatives and many friends; and, 2-9 be it further 2-10 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-11 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas 2-12 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-13 David Aaron Kaufman.
