1-1           WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives takes great
 1-2     pleasure in commending Shane Mercer of Sweetwater High School on
 1-3     being named an All-American by the Athletes of Good News; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Now in its fifth year, the Athletes of Good News
 1-5     All-American program recognizes high school student athletes who
 1-6     are impacting their schools, communities, and generation in a
 1-7     positive way; to that end, All-Americans are selected for their
 1-8     academic accomplishments, athletic achievements, and Christian
 1-9     character; and
1-10           WHEREAS, Mr. Mercer is a fitting recipient of this accolade,
1-11     for he has had a positive impact on the lives of others and is an
1-12     outstanding role model for his fellow students at Sweetwater High
1-13     School; and
1-14           WHEREAS, Both on and off the field, Shane Mercer has set an
1-15     inspirational example of one who makes a difference in the world
1-16     around him, and it is indeed appropriate that he be honored at this
1-17     time; now, therefore, be it
1-18           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
1-19     Legislature hereby congratulate Shane Mercer on earning
1-20     All-American recognition from the Athletes of Good News and extend
1-21     to him best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it
1-22     further
 2-1           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-2     prepared for Mr. Mercer as an expression of high regard by the
 2-3     Texas House of Representatives.
