                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Robert Washington, Jr., of San Antonio has been
 1-2     selected as a 2001 Outstanding Texan in the field of business by
 1-3     the Texas Legislative Black Caucus; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Outstanding Texans are honored for the positive
 1-5     impact they make in their communities, and Mr. Washington's
 1-6     compassion and leadership have truly enhanced the lives of many
 1-7     individuals in the San Antonio area; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, Following his college graduation, he joined the
 1-9     EastSide Lewis Funeral Home in 1960 and later bought the business;
1-10     he has served his profession at the local and national levels, and
1-11     for his outstanding contributions he was named Man of the Year by
1-12     the Independent Funeral Directors and Morticians Association; and
1-13           WHEREAS, Mr. Washington is highly respected by the community
1-14     he has called home for over 40 years, and his well-deserved
1-15     accolades include Man of the Year from the Elks, Citizen of the
1-16     Year from Omega Psi Phi, and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the
1-17     Black Achievement Awards; his civic involvement includes the
1-18     Chamber of Commerce, the Better Business Bureau, the NAACP, the
1-19     Jaycees, and diverse city boards and committees; and
1-20           WHEREAS, Robert Washington, Jr., has had a profound effect on
1-21     the lives of countless residents of the Lone Star State, and it is
1-22     a great pleasure to recognize him at this time; now, therefore, be
1-23     it
1-24           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
 2-1     Legislature hereby commend Robert Washington, Jr., on being named
 2-2     an Outstanding Texan by the Texas Legislative Black Caucus in the
 2-3     area of business and extend to him best wishes for future success
 2-4     and happiness; and, be it further
 2-5           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-6     prepared for Mr. Washington as an expression of high regard by the
 2-7     Texas House of Representatives.
