R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, It is indeed a pleasure to honor Melvin L. Braziel 1-2 of San Antonio for his receipt of a 2001 Outstanding Achievement 1-3 Award in the area of professional achievement given by the Texas 1-4 Legislative Black Caucus; and 1-5 WHEREAS, President and chief executive officer of the San 1-6 Antonio Housing Authority (SAHA), Mr. Braziel has long been an 1-7 exceptional role model for young African Americans and the 1-8 community as a whole; throughout his distinguished 36-year career 1-9 with the SAHA, this esteemed gentleman has established himself as 1-10 an outstanding and widely respected administrator and an invaluable 1-11 resource in the public housing industry; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Mr. Braziel has also donated his time and energy to 1-13 the betterment of his community as a college instructor and church 1-14 school superintendent; moreover, he belongs to the Little League 1-15 Board and the Miss Black San Antonio Board; and 1-16 WHEREAS, His altruism, expertise, and commitment to his 1-17 profession and his fellow Texans make Mr. Braziel a valuable asset 1-18 to the Lone Star State, and he is truly worthy of special 1-19 legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it 1-20 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 1-21 Legislature hereby congratulate Melvin L. Braziel on being awarded 1-22 an Outstanding Achievement Award from the Texas Legislative Black 1-23 Caucus and that he be extended sincere best wishes for continued 1-24 success and happiness; and, be it further 2-1 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-2 prepared for Mr. Braziel as an expression of high regard by the 2-3 Texas House of Representatives.
