R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Through his skillful leadership as chairman of the
 1-2     Coalition for Better Transportation (CBT), William T. Solomon of
 1-3     Dallas has greatly benefited the Texas highway system and the Lone
 1-4     Star State; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, Formed in 1982, CBT has raised more than $1 million
 1-6     to support transportation issues; the efforts of the organization
 1-7     and of committed individuals like Mr. Solomon have paved the way
 1-8     for countless improvements to the Texas highway system; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, A Dallas native, Mr. Solomon graduated from Southern
1-10     Methodist University (SMU) and the Harvard Graduate School of
1-11     Business; in 1967 he joined Austin Industries, Inc., the company
1-12     his grandfather founded in 1918, and which he continues to serve as
1-13     its Chairman; and
1-14           WHEREAS, In addition to supporting the CBT, he has held
1-15     numerous noteworthy board memberships for outstanding civic,
1-16     community, and business organizations; and
1-17           WHEREAS, This esteemed gentleman has been the recipient of
1-18     numerous well-deserved honors, including the SMU Distinguished
1-19     Alumnus Award; the J. Erik Jonsson Ethics Award; induction into the
1-20     Texas Business Hall of Fame; the Annette Strauss Dallas Together
1-21     Forum Award; and the Jerry R. Junkins Advocacy Award for
1-22     Extraordinary Commitment to Minority Business and Economic
1-23     Development; and
1-24           WHEREAS, Bill Solomon has worked diligently for the
 2-1     betterment of Texas, and he is most deserving of special praise for
 2-2     his leadership of the Coalition for Better Transportation; now,
 2-3     therefore, be it
 2-4           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
 2-5     Legislature hereby commend Bill Solomon for his dedicated work in
 2-6     support of the Texas highway system through his leadership of the
 2-7     Coalition for Better Transportation; and, be it further
 2-8           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-9     prepared for Mr. Solomon as an expression of high regard by the
2-10     Texas House of Representatives.
