R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, J. Robert Brown of El Paso has been reappointed to 1-2 the Texas Tech University Board of Regents by Governor Rick Perry, 1-3 and his dedicated efforts in behalf of the university are indeed 1-4 deserving of recognition and praise; and 1-5 WHEREAS, A graduate of Texas Tech University in 1968 with a 1-6 bachelor's degree in marketing, Mr. Brown got his law degree from 1-7 St. Mary's University in 1971; he is president and chairman of the 1-8 board of Desert Eagle Distributing Company of El Paso, Culberson, 1-9 and Hudspeth counties and co-owner of the Anheuser-Busch 1-10 distributorship in Roswell, New Mexico; and 1-11 WHEREAS, First appointed to the board of his undergraduate 1-12 alma mater in April 1995 by Governor George Bush, Mr. Brown has 1-13 served with distinction over the past six years; his tenure on the 1-14 board includes serving as vice chairman, and he is also a member of 1-15 the President's Council; and 1-16 WHEREAS, This notable civic and business leader is chairman 1-17 of the board of the El Paso Chamber of Commerce Foundation and a 1-18 director of the Chase Bank of Texas in El Paso; in addition, he is 1-19 active with the El Paso Boy Scouts and the Sun Bowl Association; 1-20 and 1-21 WHEREAS, Mr. Brown has made many significant contributions to 1-22 the cause of higher education and to his community and this state, 1-23 and it is indeed appropriate that he receive special legislative 1-24 recognition at this time; now, therefore, be it 2-1 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-2 Legislature hereby congratulate J. Robert Brown on his 2-3 reappointment to the Texas Tech University Board of Regents and 2-4 extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it 2-5 further 2-6 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-7 prepared for Mr. Brown as an expression of high regard by the Texas 2-8 House of Representatives.
