R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, On April 18, 2001, representatives from the Texas
 1-2     Association of Fairs and Events are gathering in Austin to
 1-3     celebrate the association's 75th anniversary; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Fairs showcase the state's finest agriculture and
 1-5     newest technology, as well as provide a setting for educational,
 1-6     entertainment, and recreational opportunities; and
 1-7           WHEREAS, Each year, fairs throughout the Lone Star State
 1-8     generate millions of dollars for Texas youth, and they also promote
 1-9     commerce and tourism and help preserve the state's rich heritage;
1-10     and
1-11           WHEREAS, Through their participation in friendly competitions
1-12     at fairs sponsored by such organizations as the FFA, 4-H, and FHA,
1-13     students develop a greater expertise in livestock, horticulture,
1-14     and agriculture; and
1-15           WHEREAS, For more than 75 years, the Texas Association of
1-16     Fairs and Events has admirably served the fair and special events
1-17     industry in Texas; the members of this organization have made
1-18     valuable contributions to numerous communities, and their ongoing
1-19     efforts merit special legislative recognition; now, therefore, be
1-20     it
1-21           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
1-22     Legislature hereby  recognize April 18, 2001, as the Official Texas
1-23     Fair and Event Day at the State Capitol and extend to the visiting
1-24     delegation sincere best wishes for an enjoyable and memorable
 2-1     visit.
