No. 779 77R4869 GMW-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of Wanda Lindemann of Claytonville on 1-2 August 22, 2000, at the age of 64, brought a great loss to her 1-3 family and many friends; and 1-4 WHEREAS, This beloved Texan was raised in Claytonville and 1-5 attended school at Kress; after graduating from high school, she 1-6 began working at Dulaney Auto Parts, a company with which she would 1-7 work the rest of her life; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Ms. Lindemann began her employment with Dulaney Auto 1-9 Parts on May 6, 1955, and a year later had advanced to the position 1-10 of office manager; by 1972 she was the comanager of the business 1-11 and had assumed total responsibility of the entire salvage 1-12 operation in Plainview; and 1-13 WHEREAS, When Dulaney Auto Parts was incorporated in 1981, 1-14 Ms. Lindemann had the foresight to purchase a substantial amount of 1-15 its stock, and she became the firm's controlling partner, a 1-16 position she held at the time of her passing; and 1-17 WHEREAS, Ms. Lindemann was an invaluable member of her 1-18 community and donated her time to numerous noteworthy 1-19 organizations, including serving on the board of directors of the 1-20 Plainview YMCA, Wee Care Child Center, and the Plainview Chamber of 1-21 Commerce, for which she was also an officer and committee chair of 1-22 its Women's Division; moreover, she was a devoted congregant at 1-23 Trinity Lutheran Church in the Providence Community, where she was 1-24 a Sunday school teacher and the first woman elected to the church's 2-1 council; and 2-2 WHEREAS, This philanthropic woman always gave generously to 2-3 charities, particularly those benefitting children and women in 2-4 critical domestic situations; she was also active with several 2-5 professional organizations, including being the first woman 2-6 president of the statewide Texas Auto Dismantlers and the regional 2-7 chairman and a board member of the National Auto Dismantlers; 2-8 during her life, she received well-deserved recognition from many 2-9 prominent state leaders, including former Texas governors Ann 2-10 Richards and George W. Bush; and 2-11 WHEREAS, Ms. Lindemann drew immeasurable strength and 2-12 inspiration from her close-knit family, and her farm home in 2-13 Claytonville was always a gathering place for loved ones to 2-14 celebrate special occasions or to seek comfort and solace; and 2-15 WHEREAS, Although Wanda Lindemann is gone from us now, her 2-16 bright spirit continues to dwell in the hearts and minds of the 2-17 many people she so deeply touched, and it is indeed appropriate to 2-18 pay tribute to this remarkable woman at this time; now, therefore, 2-19 be it 2-20 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-21 Legislature hereby honor the memory of Wanda Lindemann and extend 2-22 sincere sympathy to her family: to her siblings and their spouses, 2-23 Jim and Doris Lindemann, Josephine Clark, A. W. and Karen 2-24 Lindemann, Barbara and Bill Bloxom, Dale Lindemann, Herman and 2-25 Sandy Lindemann, and Karl and Sheryl Lindemann; to her nephews, Jim 2-26 Lindemann, Jr., Kevin Bloxom, Cody Lindemann, and Jason Lindemann; 2-27 to her nieces, Cindy Clark, Elaine Austin, Polly Horne, Dondi 3-1 Walker, and Jennifer Lindemann; and to her many other relatives and 3-2 friends; and, be it further 3-3 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 3-4 prepared for the members of her family, and that when the Texas 3-5 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 3-6 Wanda Lindemann.
