R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, On April 7, 2001, the citizens of West Texas lost a
 1-2     treasured neighbor and friend, as that day marked the passing of
 1-3     former Pecos County Judge Charles E. Warnock at the age of 77; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, A veteran of the United States Army during World War
 1-5     II, Judge Warnock was born in San Angelo on February 2, 1924, and
 1-6     was a graduate of Pecos High School; he later attended Texas Tech
 1-7     University before embarking on a career as a businessman and
 1-8     community leader; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, Judge Warnock was an automobile dealer for nearly
1-10     three decades; he purchased his first dealership, Warnock Motor
1-11     Company, in Van Horn, and later acquired two more businesses, one
1-12     in Alamogordo, New Mexico, and one in Fort Stockton, Texas; and
1-13           WHEREAS, He served as Pecos County Judge for 12 years and was
1-14     on the Van Horn City Council; in addition, he served 12 years as
1-15     chair of Pecos County Red Cross and was the chair of the Permian
1-16     Regional Planning Commission in Odessa; and
1-17           WHEREAS, Judge Warnock was an active member of the First
1-18     United Methodist Church and enjoyed long-standing membership in the
1-19     Culberson Masonic Lodge No. 1232 in Van Horn, the Fort Stockton
1-20     Masonic Lodge No. 1022, the Scottish Rite, and the El Maida Shrine
1-21     Temple in El Paso; long associated with the VFW, he was a member of
1-22     the American Legion and the Odessa Rotary Club and was selected as
1-23     a Paul Harris Fellow; and
1-24           WHEREAS, A dedicated husband, father, and grandfather, Judge
 2-1     Warnock avidly studied genealogy, was a regular bridge player, and
 2-2     loved to read; he was a noteworthy civic leader and respected
 2-3     citizen, and while he will be greatly missed, his legacy of public
 2-4     service will surely be remembered for many years to come; now,
 2-5     therefore, be it
 2-6           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
 2-7     Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Judge Charles E.
 2-8     Warnock and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family:
 2-9     to his wife of 29 years, Bettye Warnock; to his stepsons, Michael
2-10     Beck and Buddy Beck; to his sister, Patricia Warnock Eden; to his
2-11     grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and to his other relatives
2-12     and many friends; and, be it further
2-13           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-14     prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
2-15     Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Charles E.
2-16     Warnock.
