R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The untimely passing of Crystal Kay Cheatheam on 1-2 March 31, 2001, at the age of 17, has deeply saddened the family 1-3 and many friends of this beloved young woman; and 1-4 WHEREAS, The daughter of Newell and Sharon Cheatheam, she was 1-5 a junior at Katy High School, a sister to Candice and Shawn, and 1-6 twin to Shannon Cheatheam; and 1-7 WHEREAS, This warm-hearted and compassionate young Texan was 1-8 a devout member of Westland Baptist Church, often teaching 1-9 preschool classes and active in its student ministries; she was a 1-10 volunteer at Katy High School wrestling tournaments, and a member 1-11 of the school's FFA and the Katy Club, in which she assisted 1-12 handicapped children and students; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Rich in diverse interests, Ms. Cheatheam enjoyed 1-14 photography, camping, fishing, and dance; she was a long-standing 1-15 member of the Cimarron Swim Team and loved spending time with 1-16 children and her many friends; and 1-17 WHEREAS, Crystal Cheatheam was a young woman of great 1-18 promise, and although her life has been tragically cut short, her 1-19 spirit continues to live on in the hearts and minds of all who were 1-20 privileged to know her; now, therefore, be it 1-21 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 1-22 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Crystal Cheatheam and 1-23 extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her 1-24 parents, Newell and Sharon; to her sisters, Shannon and Candice; to 2-1 her brother and his wife, Shawn and Carolyn; to her niece and 2-2 nephew; to her numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and to her 2-3 other relatives and many friends; and, be it further 2-4 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-5 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of 2-6 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Crystal 2-7 Kay Cheatheam.
