                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The untimely passing of Ashley Anna Achten of
 1-2     Mauriceville on April 2, 2001, at the age of five, has brought a
 1-3     profound loss to the family and many friends of this beloved young
 1-4     girl, and it is most appropriate that we honor her memory at this
 1-5     time; and
 1-6           WHEREAS, Born in Port Arthur to Stephen and Giorgianna "Gia"
 1-7     Achten, she  attended Mauriceville Elementary School, where she was
 1-8     a particular favorite among her prekindergarten classmates; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, This irrepressible young child delighted her family
1-10     and friends with her enthusiasm for life and her kind heart, and
1-11     during her short time here, she reminded us that the ability to
1-12     give and inspire love is not limited by age or time; and
1-13           WHEREAS, Although it is immeasurably painful to say good-bye
1-14     to one so young and full of promise, it is fitting to remember that
1-15     while Ashley's time here was all too brief, her presence positively
1-16     affected all those whose lives she touched; now, therefore, be it
1-17           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
1-18     Legislature hereby honor the memory of Ashley Anna Achten and
1-19     extend deepest sympathy to the members of her family:  to her
1-20     parents, Stephen and Gia Achten; to her stepbrothers and
1-21     stepsister, Steve, Shaun, and Stephanie Achten; and to the other
1-22     relatives and many friends of this cherished young girl; and, be it
1-23     further
1-24           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-1     prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
 2-2     Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Ashley
 2-3     Anna Achten.
