R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The passing of Alex Pierro of McAllen on March 9,
 1-2     2001, at the age of 78, has deeply saddened the family and friends
 1-3     of this esteemed Texan; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Originally from San Antonio, Mr. Pierro was a
 1-5     McAllen resident for more than 50 years; during World War II he
 1-6     courageously answered his country's call to duty and served in the
 1-7     U.S. Navy aboard the USS Copahee; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, Mr. Pierro moved to McAllen after the war and was
 1-9     employed by the postal service; throughout his 32-year career, he
1-10     worked as a letter carrier and arbitrator for the union, retiring
1-11     in 1983; and
1-12           WHEREAS, A devoted husband and loving father and grandfather,
1-13     this honorable gentleman will forever be remembered by the many
1-14     people whose lives he touched; now, therefore, be it
1-15           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
1-16     Legislature hereby honor the memory of Alex Pierro and extend
1-17     sincere sympathy to the members of his family:  to his wife,
1-18     Dorothy E. Pierro; to his daughters and their husbands, Yvonne and
1-19     Steve Scholl, Jeannette and Tim Smith, and Arlene and David Garcia,
1-20     Jr.; to his two granddaughters, Lynette and Katy Garcia; to his two
1-21     grandsons, Austin and Milam Smith; to his nieces and nephews; and
1-22     to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further
1-23           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
1-24     prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 2-1     Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Alex
 2-2     Pierro.
