                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The House of Representatives is proud to honor Jean
 1-2     Tracy Palmer of McAllen in recognition of her 80th birthday; and
 1-3           WHEREAS, Born on April 6, 1921, in Smith Center, Kansas,
 1-4     Mrs. Palmer grew up in Donna, Texas, and graduated from nursing
 1-5     school in Houston; she provided nursing care to residents of
 1-6     Edinburg and Pharr until her family responsibilities took
 1-7     precedence; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, She married Gamble J. Palmer on August 13, 1942, and
 1-9     with her husband founded several businesses, including Palmer
1-10     Building Supplies & Specialties, Inc., Palmer Steel Supplies, Inc.,
1-11     and Palmer Enterprises, Inc.; today, she continues at the helm of
1-12     Palmer Enterprises, Inc., and in partnership with her son, Jay
1-13     Palmer, operates a number of corporations that develop medical,
1-14     office, industrial, and retail projects throughout the Rio Grande
1-15     Valley; and
1-16           WHEREAS, This highly respected businesswoman and civic leader
1-17     shares her faith with fellow congregants of First United Methodist
1-18     Church and has participated in many community endeavors in McAllen
1-19     and Hidalgo County, including serving on numerous city and county
1-20     boards; and
1-21           WHEREAS, Mrs. Palmer has long devoted her time and energy to
1-22     her family, her profession, and her community, and it is indeed
1-23     fitting that she be honored at this time; now, therefore, be it
1-24           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
 2-1     Legislature hereby congratulate Jean Tracy Palmer on the occasion
 2-2     of her 80th birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes for
 2-3     continued happiness; and, be it further
 2-4           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-5     prepared for Mrs. Palmer as an expression of high regard by the
 2-6     Texas House of Representatives.
