R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The family and friends of U.S. Marine Jorge A. Morin 1-2 of McAllen were deeply saddened by his untimely passing on April 8, 1-3 2000, at the age of 21; and 1-4 WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan tragically lost his 1-5 life, along with 18 of his comrades, when the experimental aircraft 1-6 he was on duty in crashed in Arizona; and 1-7 WHEREAS, A graduate of Nikki Rowe High School, Mr. Morin was 1-8 the school mascot during his senior year; he also attended four 1-9 years of ROTC and fulfilled a life-long dream when he was accepted 1-10 into the U.S. Marine Corps; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Our state and nation are fortunate to have young men 1-12 and women whose love of country leads them to military service, but 1-13 the death of this fine young soldier is a reminder that the 1-14 preservation of freedom is not without cost; Mr. Morin's passing 1-15 was a tremendous loss to his family, friends, and fellow marines, 1-16 but his remarkable spirit will live on in the hearts of the many 1-17 whose lives he touched during his time on this earth; now, 1-18 therefore, be it 1-19 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 1-20 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Jorge A. Morin and 1-21 extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his 1-22 parents, Celia Morin and Cecilio Cano; to his brothers and sister, 1-23 Larry Morin, Jaime Morin, and Liza Ann Morin; and to the many other 1-24 relatives and friends of this courageous young man; and, be it 2-1 further 2-2 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-3 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of 2-4 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jorge A. 2-5 Morin.
