By Hodge H.R. No. 843 77R13535 JKB-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Zinnie B. Lewis of Dallas was a beloved wife, 1-2 mother, and neighbor, and her passing on March 20, 2001, at the age 1-3 of 82, has brought a great loss to her family and many friends; and 1-4 WHEREAS, A native Texan, the former Ms. Oliphant was born in 1-5 Wheelock on December 18, 1918; she was the daughter of Jim and 1-6 Bessie Oliphant, and as a child, was a member of the Mosley Chapel 1-7 C.M.E. Church; and 1-8 WHEREAS, This compassionate and warm-hearted woman married 1-9 John Lewis, and the couple were blessed with a close-knit and 1-10 loving family, including two cherished daughters, Diane and Nancy; 1-11 and 1-12 WHEREAS, Over the years, her family continued to grow and she 1-13 enjoyed the love and affection of four grandchildren and 11 1-14 great-grandchildren; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Mrs. Lewis was a devout member of the Free Church of 1-16 God in Christ in Jesus Name, where she served as a church mother; 1-17 she was a source of happiness to all who knew her, and while Zinnie 1-18 Lewis will indeed be greatly missed, the spirit of this remarkable 1-19 woman will assuredly live on in the hearts and minds of all those 1-20 whose lives she touched; now, therefore, be it 1-21 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 1-22 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Zinnie B. Lewis and 1-23 extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her 1-24 daughter, Diane McFail; to her grandchildren, Evette McFail, Kevin 2-1 McFail, Monique McFail, and Keddrick McFail Hubbard; to her 2-2 great-grandchildren; to her great-nieces and nephews, Kathy Nealy, 2-3 Jannetta Harper, Arvo Smith, and Ronald Bryant; to her niece, Betty 2-4 Wright; and to her other relatives and many friends; and, be it 2-5 further 2-6 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-7 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of 2-8 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Zinnie B. 2-9 Lewis.
