                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Mary Elizabeth Wills, the daughter of Robert and
 1-2     Rebecca Wills, has had a stellar year in 4-H livestock
 1-3     competitions, and it is a distinct pleasure to recognize her hard
 1-4     work and dedication and to celebrate her many accomplishments; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, On March 9, 2001, at the San Angelo Livestock Show,
 1-6     this admirable young Texan had the Reserve Champion English Steer,
 1-7     a Black Angus named Sweetness; a week later, she met with equal
 1-8     success at the Johnson County Livestock Show, where another of her
 1-9     Black Angus steers, Little Truck, was the Reserve Champion English
1-10     Steer; and
1-11           WHEREAS, These outstanding showings are reflective of
1-12     Ms. Wills's commitment to agriculture and the 4-H organization; she
1-13     has served as a 4-H State Council representative and District 8
1-14     chairperson and has been actively involved in various aspects of
1-15     4-H, including identification teams, shooting sports, government,
1-16     showing, and public speaking; and
1-17           WHEREAS, Ms. Wills is a certified master gardener of Tarrant
1-18     County and a trained representative for Barn Tours, an educational
1-19     company that employs her to give tours promoting agriculture across
1-20     the United States; in addition to saving the money she earns to use
1-21     for college, she has won a $1,000 scholarship and is working toward
1-22     more; and
1-23           WHEREAS, An excellent student who has been home schooled,
1-24     Ms. Wills already has enough credit to graduate from high school,
 2-1     which has allowed her to be an invaluable legislative staff member
 2-2     on rural issues during the 77th legislative session; she is also a
 2-3     talented musician who studied Suzuki violin from ages 3 to 11, at
 2-4     which time she took up fiddling; and
 2-5           WHEREAS, Amiable and articulate, Ms. Wills is a noteworthy
 2-6     Texan whose devotion to agricultural issues will continue to bring
 2-7     her great satisfaction and undoubtedly benefit the entire state;
 2-8     now, therefore, be it
 2-9           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
2-10     Legislature hereby honor Mary Wills for her 4-H achievements and
2-11     extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success and
2-12     happiness; and, be it further
2-13           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-14     prepared for Ms. Wills as an expression of high regard by the Texas
2-15     House of Representatives.
