R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The passing of Ernest Montgomery of Austin on April
 1-2     1, 2001, at the age of 82, has brought a great loss to the family
 1-3     and many friends of this beloved man; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Born on December 4, 1918, in Oakalla, he attended
 1-5     Lampasas High School and graduated from The University of Texas
 1-6     with a degree in accounting; he served his country with valor as a
 1-7     member of the United States Army during World War II in South
 1-8     Africa, Italy, France, and Germany; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, Affectionately known as "Mr. Rue," he applied his
1-10     considerable talent to several diverse careers, as owner and
1-11     operator of a bookkeeping and tax service, as an employee with the
1-12     Texas Department of Health, and as proprietor of a highly
1-13     successful South Austin business, Rue's Antiques, which he
1-14     established in 1966 and operated for three decades; and
1-15           WHEREAS, Mr. Montgomery married the former Iva Rue Moore on
1-16     January 3, 1942, and with her enjoyed a loving and supportive
1-17     relationship; he took great pride in his close-knit family of two
1-18     sons, seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild; and
1-19           WHEREAS, Residents of Austin will long miss this fine man and
1-20     he will surely be remembered with great affection and admiration
1-21     for many years to come; now, therefore, be it
1-22           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
1-23     Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Ernest Montgomery and
1-24     extend deepest sympathy to his family:  to his wife, Iva Rue
 2-1     Montgomery; to his sons, Phillip and Mark Montgomery; to his
 2-2     brothers and sister-in-law, Melvin Montgomery and Luke and Wilda
 2-3     Montgomery; to his grandchildren; to his great-grandchild; and to
 2-4     the other relatives and many friends of this esteemed gentleman;
 2-5     and, be it further
 2-6           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-7     prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 2-8     Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Ernest
 2-9     Montgomery.
