                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Carol R. West has been named the 2001 Dallas Mother
 1-2     of the Year, and this outstanding accomplishment provides an apt
 1-3     opportunity to pay tribute to this beloved woman; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Mrs. West, the wife of Senator Royce West, is being
 1-5     honored at the 2001 Dallas Mother of the Year Luncheon for her
 1-6     unwavering loyalty and devotion to her family, which includes
 1-7     immediate and extended family in Texas and Louisiana; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, A 1976 graduate of Dillard University with a
 1-9     bachelor's degree in accounting, Mrs. West is a certified public
1-10     accountant with Associates Corporation of North America; she is
1-11     currently on a leave of absence from her position as vice president
1-12     of corporate audit, a post in which she has served with distinction
1-13     since 1988, to fully devote herself to the upbringing of her two
1-14     sons, Brandon and Roddrick; and
1-15           WHEREAS, In addition to being a doting and caring mother,
1-16     Mrs. West has excelled in her public role as the wife of a Texas
1-17     senator, always conducting herself with immense dignity, poise, and
1-18     charm; and
1-19           WHEREAS, In all aspects of her life, Carol West has set high
1-20     standards to which others may aspire, and her commitment to
1-21     ensuring the healthy emotional, educational, and spiritual
1-22     development of her sons makes her most deserving of the Mother of
1-23     the Year award;  now, therefore, be it
1-24           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
 2-1     Legislature hereby congratulate Carol R. West on her receipt of the
 2-2     2001 Dallas Mother of the Year award and extend to her best wishes
 2-3     for continued success and happiness; and, be it further
 2-4           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-5     prepared for Mrs. West as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 2-6     House of Representatives.
