No. 884 77R14195 MJS-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The 2001 Stephenville High School powerlifting team 1-2 placed first at the Texas High School Powerlifting Association 1-3 State Finals; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Head coach Randy Clements guided Stephenville to its 1-5 10th consecutive regional title this season and had his team ably 1-6 prepared for the state competition; and 1-7 WHEREAS, Held at the Daniel Meyer Coliseum on the campus of 1-8 Texas Christian University, the Division I Texas state powerlifting 1-9 finals featured more than 100 teams; Stephenville earned a total of 1-10 17 points to capture its first-ever state powerlifting 1-11 championship; and 1-12 WHEREAS, This exemplary 44-member team was led by Justin 1-13 Monk, who finished first in the 165-pound weight class by lifting 1-14 an impressive total of 1400 pounds; other noteworthy powerlifters 1-15 from Stephenville included Corey Henderson, Pedro Medina, and 1-16 Jonathan Miller, who each placed among the top five competitors in 1-17 their respective weight divisions; and 1-18 WHEREAS, The stellar season would not have been possible 1-19 without the valuable contributions of all the talented team 1-20 members; these admirable young Texans have proven themselves to be 1-21 formidable competitors; as they take justifiable pride and 1-22 satisfaction in their achievements this season, it is indeed most 1-23 fitting to recognize them; now, therefore, be it 1-24 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-1 Legislature hereby congratulate the 2001 Stephenville High School 2-2 powerlifting team for taking first place at the Texas High School 2-3 Powerlifting Association State Finals and extend to its team 2-4 members sincere best wishes for success and happiness at future 2-5 competitions; and, be it further 2-6 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-7 prepared for the 2001 Stephenville High School powerlifting team as 2-8 an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
