R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Dr. Leslie Green of Garland is retiring after 40
 1-2     exceptional years in the education profession, and it is indeed
 1-3     appropriate to honor him at this time; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Dr. Green's 40-year career began as a math teacher
 1-5     and basketball coach in the Farmersville ISD; in 1964, he moved to
 1-6     the Garland ISD, where he taught math and physics at South Garland
 1-7     High School; earning extra income so his wife could stay home and
 1-8     raise their two sons, Dr. Green sponsored the Key Club and various
 1-9     dances; and
1-10           WHEREAS, After 10 years, he moved into administration,
1-11     becoming assistant principal at O'Banion Middle School, where he
1-12     worked for 11 years until becoming principal at Toler Elementary
1-13     School; during his 16-year tenure as principal at Toler, Dr. Green
1-14     was an active board, life, and extended life member of the PTA and
1-15     benefited the school and community in countless ways; and
1-16           WHEREAS, A dedicated educator, Dr. Green plans to return
1-17     after one year of his retirement to resume teaching algebra, as he
1-18     continues to fulfill his life's mission of educating young people;
1-19     now, therefore, be it
1-20           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
1-21     Legislature hereby honor Dr. Leslie Green on his well-deserved
1-22     retirement and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
1-23     success and happiness; and, be it further
1-24           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-1     prepared for Dr. Green as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 2-2     House of Representatives.
