R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The untimely passing of Zachary Franco of Odessa on 1-2 April 17, 2001, at the age of 11, has brought a profound loss to 1-3 the family and many friends of this beloved young man, and it is 1-4 most appropriate that we honor his memory at this time; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Born on November 19, 1989, in Odessa, to Toby and 1-6 Frances Franco, Zachary attended Gonzales Elementary School, where 1-7 he volunteered his time with the special needs class, attained 1-8 placement on the A/B honor roll, participated with the drama club, 1-9 and was a favorite among his fifth-grade classmates; his interests 1-10 also included tae kwon do, and he had earned a first-degree black 1-11 belt in the discipline; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Dedicated to living his unwavering faith, this 1-13 exceptional young Texan displayed a maturity beyond his years; he 1-14 was an active member of Immanuel Baptist Church of Odessa, where he 1-15 participated in the Kids-4-Life children's ministry, choir, and 1-16 Bible drill and volunteered in the children's special needs Sunday 1-17 school class; and 1-18 WHEREAS, Zachary brought joy and inspiration into the lives 1-19 of his family and friends with his loving spirit and his generous 1-20 heart, and during his short time here, he reminded us that the 1-21 ability to give and inspire love is not limited by age or time; and 1-22 WHEREAS, Although it is immeasurably painful to say good-bye 1-23 to one so young and full of promise, it is fitting to remember that 1-24 while Zachary's time here was all too brief, his life positively 2-1 affected all those whose lives he touched; now, therefore, be it 2-2 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-3 Legislature hereby honor the memory of Zachary Franco and extend 2-4 deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his parents, 2-5 Toby and Frances Franco; to his brothers, Joshua T. and Tomas A. 2-6 Franco; to his grandparents, Florentino and Esperanza Franco and 2-7 Hipolito and Esperanza Hernandez; and to the many other relatives 2-8 and friends of this cherished child; and, be it further 2-9 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-10 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of 2-11 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Zachary 2-12 Franco.
