R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, On June 1, 2000, the Reverend Kermit S. Bridges of 1-2 Waxahachie assumed the presidency of Southwestern Assemblies of God 1-3 University; and 1-4 WHEREAS, A native of Waxahachie, Mr. Bridges received his 1-5 undergraduate degree from Southwestern Assemblies of God University 1-6 and went on to earn master's degrees from the Assemblies of God 1-7 Theological Seminary and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary; 1-8 he is currently pursuing a doctorate in church leadership at Fuller 1-9 Theological Seminary in Fullerton, California; and 1-10 WHEREAS, An ordained minister in the Assemblies of God, 1-11 Reverend Bridges has served admirably as a member of the 1-12 administration of Southwestern Assemblies of God University since 1-13 1994; and 1-14 WHEREAS, During his tenure as vice president for university 1-15 advancement, the school completed its most successful fund-raising 1-16 drive, in which $6 million was contributed toward the construction 1-17 of the Sheaffer Full Life Center and the purchase and renovation of 1-18 a satellite campus; in addition, under his adroit guidance, the 1-19 university's enrollment has steadily grown from 1,007 in 1994 to 1-20 its present total of 1,783 students; and 1-21 WHEREAS, Before joining the administration at his alma mater, 1-22 Reverend Bridges was senior pastor at First Assembly of God in 1-23 Grand Prairie and a pastoral associate at Oak Cliff Assembly of God 1-24 in Dallas, Park Crest Assembly of God in Springfield, Missouri, and 2-1 First Assembly of God in Garland; and 2-2 WHEREAS, This respected clergyman has dedicated himself to 2-3 helping many young people succeed in the classroom and in life; 2-4 with his outstanding record of service, Reverend Bridges has proven 2-5 to be an able leader who has worked hard to further education in 2-6 our state, and it is most appropriate to pay tribute to him at this 2-7 time; now, therefore, be it 2-8 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-9 Legislature hereby congratulate the Reverend Kermit S. Bridges on 2-10 becoming president of Southwestern Assemblies of God University and 2-11 extend to him sincere best wishes for continued good fortune and 2-12 happiness in his future endeavors; and, be it further 2-13 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-14 prepared for Mr. Bridges as an expression of high regard by the 2-15 Texas House of Representatives.
