R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Sharon Denise Conlee is retiring in May 2001, and
 1-2     she is most deserving of special legislative recognition for her 29
 1-3     years of exemplary service as an educator; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, This beloved woman fulfilled a lifelong goal to
 1-5     become a teacher when she began her career in 1972 with the Houston
 1-6     Independent School District, teaching sixth grade for three years;
 1-7     she then taught for 15 years with the Pasadena ISD, where her
 1-8     creativity and enthusiasm were invaluable to the education of many
 1-9     students; and
1-10           WHEREAS, Currently a teacher at Heights Elementary School,
1-11     Mrs. Conlee joined the Texas City ISD in 1989, and in the ensuing
1-12     years her innovative ideas and model classroom strategies have
1-13     inspired both her students and her fellow educators; the recipient
1-14     of the 1995 Teacher of the Year award from the Educational Service
1-15     Center, she has coordinated and trained in activities to enhance
1-16     the school's gifted and talented program, served on the TEKS
1-17     alignment committee for the language arts program, and participated
1-18     in numerous extracurricular events to encourage children's
1-19     community involvement; and
1-20           WHEREAS, A remarkable woman who counts running the 1981
1-21     Houston Marathon among her personal accomplishments, Mrs. Conlee is
1-22     a champion in every aspect of her life and takes immense pride in
1-23     her role as a devoted wife, stepmother, and grandmother; and
1-24           WHEREAS, Mrs. Conlee has instilled a passion for learning in
 2-1     young Texans for almost three decades and has earned a special
 2-2     place in the hearts of her students; now, therefore, be it
 2-3           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
 2-4     Legislature hereby congratulate Sharon Denise Conlee on the
 2-5     occasion of her retirement from the Texas City Independent School
 2-6     District and commend her on the positive impact she has had on
 2-7     countless students over the course of her outstanding career; and,
 2-8     be it further
 2-9           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-10     prepared for Mrs. Conlee as an expression of high regard by the
2-11     Texas House of Representatives.
