                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Paintings by Jose E. Chavez that hang in Big Bend
 1-2     Regional Medical Center are a tribute to his grandmother, Juliana
 1-3     Bermudez Chavez, whose sweet smile and caring ways brightened the
 1-4     lives of patients and staff alike during her tenure with the
 1-5     facility; and
 1-6           WHEREAS, Mrs. Chavez was a respected employee of the Big Bend
 1-7     Regional Medical Center, where she worked in the housekeeping
 1-8     department for 19 years; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, Born in 1922, she married Jose L. Chavez in 1939,
1-10     and they shared many wonderful years and a lifetime of treasured
1-11     memories before she died in 1978; the couple were blessed with a
1-12     large and loving family, which grew to include six children,
1-13     Rebecca Portillo, and Jose, Enrique, Mary, Arturo, and Gilbert
1-14     Chavez, as well as 22 grandchildren and numerous
1-15     great-grandchildren, in whom the spirit of this beloved woman lives
1-16     on today; and
1-17           WHEREAS, The display of these paintings in the Big Bend
1-18     Regional Medical Center serves as a poignant reminder of her
1-19     selflessness, a trait that is carried forward by her proud
1-20     descendants; now, therefore, be it
1-21           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
1-22     Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Juliana Bermudez
1-23     Chavez and her many years of service to the Big Bend Regional
1-24     Medical Center; and, be it further
 2-1           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-2     prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
 2-3     Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Juliana
 2-4     Bermudez Chavez.
