R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, On May 5, 2001, John and Joan Figlan of Austin
 1-2     observe a joyous occasion in their marriage as they celebrate their
 1-3     golden wedding anniversary; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Joined in marriage on May 5, 1951, in a ceremony in
 1-5     Detroit, Michigan, the Figlans enjoy a warm and fulfilling
 1-6     relationship that serves as an inspiration to all those who know
 1-7     and admire them; they take great pride in their family, which
 1-8     includes three children, Matt Figlan, Alicia Smith, and Tracy
 1-9     Figlan, and one beloved granddaughter, Megan Figlan; and
1-10           WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Figlan are respected members of their
1-11     Austin community, where they are enjoying their well-deserved
1-12     retirement; and
1-13           WHEREAS, Together, this devoted couple have shared the trials
1-14     and triumphs of five decades; their commitment to each other is a
1-15     source of great pride to their family and many friends, and it is
1-16     indeed appropriate that they be honored at this time; now,
1-17     therefore, be it
1-18           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
1-19     Legislature hereby congratulate John and Joan Figlan on their 50th
1-20     wedding anniversary and extend to them warmest wishes on this
1-21     momentous occasion; and, be it further
1-22           RESOLVED,  That  an  official  copy  of  this  resolution  be
1-23     prepared  for Mr. and Mrs. Figlan as an expression of  high  regard
1-24     by the Texas House of Representatives.
