R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The retirement of Dona Brewer of Parker County from 1-2 the Texas Agricultural Extension Service brings to a close the 1-3 career of a distinguished public servant; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Ms. Brewer received her bachelor's and master's 1-5 degrees from Texas Christian University and has pursued studies 1-6 toward a doctorate at Texas Woman's University; in addition, she 1-7 holds a variety of certifications related to family and consumer 1-8 sciences; and 1-9 WHEREAS, For 30 years, she has worked as a county extension 1-10 agent in the family and consumer sciences division for the Texas 1-11 Agricultural Extension Service and has served admirably in this 1-12 capacity; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Her myriad accomplishments include assisting with 1-14 the planning of the Parker County 4-H Youth Center and working with 1-15 different organizations to sponsor the Parker County Peach 1-16 Festival, which is a major tourist attraction in the county; she 1-17 has served as the District 4 Texas Extension Association of Family 1-18 and Consumer Science treasurer, secretary, alternate director, and 1-19 director; and 1-20 WHEREAS, She has worked with a number of organizations, 1-21 including the American Heart Association, Weatherford College 1-22 Curriculum Advisory Committee, Pecan Valley Mental Health/Mental 1-23 Retardation Advisory Group, Weatherford/Parker County Economic 1-24 Development Corporation, and Texas Workforce Advisory Group; and 2-1 WHEREAS, She has been a member of the Texas and National 2-2 Family and Community Education Association, the National Society 2-3 for Nutrition Education, the national, state, and Northeast Area 2-4 Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, the national and Texas 2-5 Association of Extension 4-H Agents, and Tarrant County Dietetics 2-6 Association; and 2-7 WHEREAS, The recipient of a number of prestigious accolades, 2-8 Ms. Brewer has received the Parker County Business and Professional 2-9 Women's Association Achievement Award, Texas Department of 2-10 Protective and Regulatory Services Award, Area American Heart 2-11 Association Volunteer Award, and the Parker County Optimist Club 2-12 Youth Service Award; and 2-13 WHEREAS, Throughout the years, Parker County has reaped the 2-14 benefits of Ms. Brewer's leadership and commitment; she is a role 2-15 model who has made a positive and lasting difference in her 2-16 community, and it is indeed fitting that we recognize her as she 2-17 begins a new chapter in her life; now, therefore, be it 2-18 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-19 Legislature hereby pay tribute to Dona Brewer for her exemplary 2-20 service as a county extension agent in the family and consumer 2-21 sciences division of the Texas Agricultural Extension Service and 2-22 extend to her best wishes for happiness and good fortune in the 2-23 future; and, be it further 2-24 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-25 prepared for Ms. Brewer as a token of high regard by the Texas 2-26 House of Representatives.
