R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Charles Huff of Austin has worked for more than 1-2 three decades at the State Capitol on issues of great importance to 1-3 Texas, and it is a pleasure to honor him on the occasion of his 1-4 69th birthday; and 1-5 WHEREAS, A graduate of Texas A&M University with a degree in 1-6 agricultural education, Mr. Huff has served his alma mater as class 1-7 agent for 10 years and may reflect on his Aggie roots and 40-plus 1-8 year career in governmental relations with pride; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Hired by the Texas Farm Bureau in 1959, he went on 1-10 to serve as a freelance consultant representing the interests of 1-11 the Texas Transportation Association, the Southwest Hardware and 1-12 Implement Dealers, and others until 1965, when he was named 1-13 executive director of the Texas Veterinary Medical Association; and 1-14 WHEREAS, For 17 years, Mr. Huff led the association to its 1-15 greatest expansion in membership and a closer participation in the 1-16 legislative process; under his direction, the association formed 1-17 the Texas Veterinary Medical Foundation, which in turn organized 1-18 the Texas Academy of Veterinary Practice, and these programs 1-19 continue to support veterinary research and an aggressive approach 1-20 to continuing education for members of the profession; and 1-21 WHEREAS, Mr. Huff served as a board member of the Texas 1-22 Society of Association Executives in 1978 and was later selected as 1-23 the organization's president; today, he continues to share his 1-24 expertise as president of the Texas Notary Public Association and 2-1 Capital Surety Bond, and his leadership of the association has 2-2 resulted in the professional training of thousands of Texas 2-3 notaries and officers of the court; and 2-4 WHEREAS, This fine man is supported in all his endeavors by 2-5 his devoted family, which includes his wife, Bobbie, his children, 2-6 James Robert Huff, Dr. Luann Becker, Jason Huff, and Dixie Lucey, 2-7 and his grandchildren, Mary Katherine Lucey and William Charles 2-8 Lucey; and 2-9 WHEREAS, In his life outside the Capitol Complex, Mr. Huff 2-10 enjoys Texas history, Aggie football, gardening, beekeeping, and 2-11 visiting his Hill Country getaway, and his many friends take 2-12 pleasure in honoring him on his special day; now, therefore, be it 2-13 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-14 Legislature hereby congratulate Charles Huff on the occasion of his 2-15 69th birthday and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued 2-16 happiness.
