R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, May 5, 2001, is indeed a special day in the life of 1-2 William Henry "Hank" Pharis III, because on that day he will 1-3 graduate from Dallas Theological Seminary with his doctoral degree; 1-4 and 1-5 WHEREAS, Mr. Pharis's impending graduation is only the latest 1-6 achievement in a distinguished career in ministry that has earned 1-7 him widespread respect; greatly admired for his faith, integrity, 1-8 and dedication, this committed gentleman earned his bachelor's 1-9 degree in history and religion from Texas Christian University in 1-10 1974 and his master's in historical theology from Dallas 1-11 Theological Seminary in 1980; and 1-12 WHEREAS, While a student, he served as a youth director, 1-13 Sunday school teacher, and instructor at the seminary's Lay 1-14 Institute, and participated in a missionary internship in Mexico 1-15 and Guatemala; and 1-16 WHEREAS, Over the last 20 years, Mr. Pharis has been a 1-17 college, assistant, or senior pastor in churches in Nebraska, 1-18 Texas, and Kansas; currently the senior pastor of Calvary Baptist 1-19 Church in Fargo, North Dakota, Mr. Pharis sets an outstanding 1-20 example, not only for his congregation, but for all who know him, 1-21 and it is a privilege to recognize him at this time; now, 1-22 therefore, be it 1-23 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 1-24 Legislature hereby congratulate William Henry Pharis III on his 2-1 graduation from Dallas Theological Seminary and extend to him 2-2 sincere best wishes for success and happiness in the years to come; 2-3 and, be it further 2-4 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-5 prepared for Mr. Pharis as an expression of high regard by the 2-6 Texas House of Representatives.
