R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, On May 5, 2001, the Second Annual Third Ward Teen
 1-2     Symposium is taking place at Boynton Chapel United Methodist Church
 1-3     in a concerted effort to better the lives of Houston's youth; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Promoting health awareness and positive lifestyles,
 1-5     the Teen Symposium offers seminars for approximately 300 youths
 1-6     ages 11 to 19 to address an array of issues ranging from spiritual
 1-7     and physical well-being to crime prevention to college preparation
 1-8     to money management; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, In addition to these workshops, there will be drama
1-10     performances and entertainment provided by praise dancers,
1-11     Christian rappers, singers, and mimes; and
1-12           WHEREAS, The theme of this enlightening experience will be
1-13     "Teens Crossing Over, Making No U-Turns, But Yielding to Seek New
1-14     Challenges and Positive, Healthy Lifestyles," and it is indeed
1-15     fitting to commend the goals of this noteworthy event; now,
1-16     therefore, be it
1-17           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
1-18     Legislature hereby recognize the Second Annual Third Ward Teen
1-19     Symposium and extend to all those participating sincere best wishes
1-20     for success and happiness.
