                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The Air Force JROTC cadets of C. E. King High School
 1-2     in Houston had a sterling all-around performance at the 2001 Air
 1-3     Force JROTC National Drill Championships, and their significant
 1-4     accomplishments are indeed worthy of special legislative
 1-5     recognition; and
 1-6           WHEREAS, Held at the Prince George's County Sports & Learning
 1-7     Complex in Landover, Maryland, the invitation-only national drill
 1-8     championships featured schools from across the nation with Air
 1-9     Force JROTC units that had previously distinguished themselves in
1-10     other state and national competitions; C. E. King High School and
1-11     Oakridge High School in Conroe were the Lone Star State
1-12     representatives in this prestigious first-ever event; and
1-13           WHEREAS, The King High School cadets took first place in the
1-14     unarmed regulation, armed exhibition, and unarmed commander
1-15     competitions; moreover, they captured second place in the armed
1-16     inspection category and finished in fourth place in the armed color
1-17     guard, unarmed exhibition, and unarmed inspection divisions; and
1-18           WHEREAS, The superb showing could not have been possible
1-19     without the contributions of all of the cadets, including Johanna
1-20     Gaviria, Crystal Semien, Carissa Kirkland, Christina Cooper, Erika
1-21     Ramirez, Liliane Adames, Jessica Cisneros, Andrea Cisneros,
1-22     Cipriana Alvarado, Susie Cervantez, Norma Gonzalez, Savannah Pena,
1-23     Michelle Pena, Sherell Mouton, Dannetta Green, Marshall Tillis,
1-24     Michael Tijerina, Julius Ortega, Antonio Cisneros, Ryan Johnston,
 2-1     Landon Cruz, Emmanuel Perez, Aaron Laws, Joshua Dawson, Aaron
 2-2     Ortega, Miguel Sepulveda, Omar Sandoval, Nicholas Gaviria, Danny
 2-3     Delgado, and Lawrence Ceballos; and
 2-4           WHEREAS, The hard work and dedication of all of these fine
 2-5     young people is truly commendable, and it is most fitting to pay
 2-6     tribute to them at this time; now, therefore, be it
 2-7           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
 2-8     Legislature hereby congratulate the Air Force JROTC cadets from
 2-9     C. E. King High School in Houston on their outstanding achievements
2-10     at the 2001 Air Force JROTC National Drill Championships and extend
2-11     to them best wishes for success and happiness in their future
2-12     endeavors; and, be it further
2-13           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-14     prepared for the cadets as an expression of high regard by the
2-15     Texas House of Representatives.
