No. 945 77R14818 MJS-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Adrian Gregory has had an outstanding academic and 1-2 athletic career at Livingston High School; and 1-3 WHEREAS, A high school senior, Ms. Gregory has enjoyed great 1-4 success competing in softball, and her immense talents have earned 1-5 her a scholarship to play at Texas A&M University in the fall of 1-6 2001; and 1-7 WHEREAS, Selected as the District 19-4A Newcomer of the Year 1-8 as a freshman, Ms. Gregory has been a key contributor on the 1-9 softball diamond for the Lady Lions and was named to the All-State 1-10 team as a junior after finishing the 2000 season with a .471 1-11 batting average, 39 RBI, and 10 stolen bases; she also posted a 1-12 19-8 record as a pitcher and had a 0.54 ERA with 123 strike outs; 1-13 and 1-14 WHEREAS, During the 2001 season, she hit a torrid .621 and 1-15 scored 32 runs while going 10-3 on the mound with a microscopic 1-16 0.37 ERA; in addition, Ms. Gregory has been nominated for such 1-17 prestigious accolades as Softball Athlete of the Year and the Texas 1-18 Girl's Coaches Association's All-State Team; and 1-19 WHEREAS, This notable young Texan has excelled in other 1-20 sports at Livingston High School; a 5-foot-10 guard, she served as 1-21 the girls basketball team's captain for two years and was the 1-22 District 19-4A's Most Valuable Player (MVP) as a senior; moreover, 1-23 she played volleyball as a freshman and sophomore and was picked as 1-24 Livingston's Co-MVP for the 1998 and 1999 seasons; and 2-1 WHEREAS, Inducted into the National Honor Society as a 2-2 junior, Ms. Gregory has been a stellar performer in the classroom 2-3 and has received the notable distinction of Academic All-State; she 2-4 has also maintained a superb 94 grade point average for four years; 2-5 and 2-6 WHEREAS, Currently serving as senior class president, 2-7 Ms. Gregory has proven herself to be a formidable competitor and 2-8 model student-athlete; as she embraces a future bright with promise 2-9 and prepares for the opportunities and challenges that are in front 2-10 of her, it is indeed fitting to pay tribute to her; now, therefore, 2-11 be it 2-12 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-13 Legislature hereby commend Adrian Gregory for her numerous 2-14 achievements at Livingston High School and extend to her sincere 2-15 best wishes for continued success and good fortune; and, be it 2-16 further 2-17 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-18 prepared for Ms. Gregory as an expression of high regard by the 2-19 Texas House of Representatives.
