                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The family and friends of Josephine "Joppy" Romero
 1-2     and the entire Kerrville community suffered a profound loss with
 1-3     the passing of this esteemed lady on May 16, 2000; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, This lifelong Kerrville resident was born on March
 1-5     18, 1940, and attended Tivy High School; an expert hair stylist,
 1-6     she owned and operated the Inn Hair Salon for 25 years, which
 1-7     became a hub of activity for locals and a great source for news of
 1-8     the community; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, A generous and valuable supporter of the American
1-10     Cancer Society, Mrs. Romero contributed much of her time and energy
1-11     to her local cancer support group through Sid Peterson Memorial
1-12     Hospital, counseling those recently diagnosed with the disease; she
1-13     was a member of Notre Dame Catholic Church and an active volunteer
1-14     who often read to groups of children; and
1-15           WHEREAS, Mrs. Romero shunned the spotlight, but with her
1-16     engaging personality, she was the center of attention wherever she
1-17     went; her life had a positive, far-reaching impact on countless
1-18     individuals in whose hearts her spirit will undoubtedly live on;
1-19     now, therefore, be it
1-20           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
1-21     Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Josephine "Joppy"
1-22     Romero and extend deepest condolences to the members of her family:
1-23     to her husband, Louis Romero; to her daughter, Pam, and her
1-24     husband, Tom Dooley; to her stepdaughter, Toni, and her husband,
 2-1     Michael Box; to her stepdaughter, Gina Romero; to her mother and
 2-2     stepfather, Ruby and Charles Ayers; to her brother, Phil Cavness,
 2-3     and his wife, Dodie; to her two grandchildren, Reagan and Kaitlynn
 2-4     Dooley; and to her other relatives and many friends; and, be it
 2-5     further
 2-6           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-7     prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
 2-8     Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Joppy
 2-9     Romero.
