R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, May 7, 2001, is indeed a special day in the lives of
1-2 Bill and Jonnie Lou Yowell of Killeen, for on that day the couple
1-3 are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary; and
1-4 WHEREAS, Natives of Elk, the couple grew up next door to each
1-5 other; they attended Elk School and La Vega High School in Bellmead
1-6 but did not start dating until Mr. Yowell was a student at Texas
1-7 A&M University, and they were married in 1951 shortly after he
1-8 received his degree from Baylor Law School; and
1-9 WHEREAS, Currently the chairman of the board of Heights Bank
1-10 in Harker Heights, Mr. Yowell owned and operated a branch of the
1-11 Gross-Yowell Lumber Company in Killeen for many years and has also
1-12 been active in ranching and politics; Mrs. Yowell has been a
1-13 dedicated homemaker throughout the couple's marriage, providing
1-14 guidance and compassion to her family that, in addition to two
1-15 daughters, Debbie and Sherrie, has now grown to include one
1-16 cherished grandchild, Matthew; and
1-17 WHEREAS, With five decades of wonderful memories, a
1-18 close-knit family, and numerous friends, the Yowells truly have
1-19 reason to celebrate, and it is a privilege to honor them on this
1-20 most memorable occasion; now, therefore, be it
1-21 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
1-22 Legislature hereby congratulate Bill and Jonnie Lou Yowell on their
1-23 golden wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes
1-24 for the future; and, be it further
2-1 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-2 prepared for the Yowells as an expression of high regard by the
2-3 Texas House of Representatives.
