                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The retirement of Lois Nixon from the board of the
 1-2     Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District (ISD) brings to a
 1-3     close the distinguished service of this esteemed woman; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, A resident of Bedford since 1961, Ms. Nixon earned
 1-5     her bachelor's and master's degrees at the University of North
 1-6     Texas and did postgraduate work at Texas Woman's University in
 1-7     Denton; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, She is a licensed professional counselor who retired
 1-9     from the H-E-B ISD in 1992; with her leadership and professional
1-10     experience, she has served admirably as a member of the school
1-11     board for the past seven years; and
1-12           WHEREAS, Honored as a Friend of Education by Texas Christian
1-13     University's Phi Delta Kappa organization in 1997, Ms. Nixon's
1-14     impressive record of service also includes having served as a
1-15     member of the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Education Foundation and as a
1-16     founding member of the board of the Old Bedford School; and
1-17           WHEREAS, Ms. Nixon has been actively involved in the
1-18     community and was also a founding member and former president of
1-19     the Oak Crest Woman's Club and is a valued congregant of the St.
1-20     Philip Presbyterian Church; and
1-21           WHEREAS, Ms. Nixon has made many valuable contributions as a
1-22     member of the H-E-B school board; as she begins a new chapter in
1-23     her life and prepares for the opportunities and challenges that lie
1-24     in front of her, it is indeed most appropriate to pay tribute to
 2-1     her for her achievements; now, therefore, be it
 2-2           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
 2-3     Legislature hereby congratulate Lois Nixon on the occasion of her
 2-4     retirement as a member of the board of Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD
 2-5     and commend her for her outstanding public service; and, be it
 2-6     further
 2-7           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-8     prepared for Ms. Nixon as a token of high regard by the Texas House
 2-9     of Representatives.
