                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Don Medlin of Plano is ending a highly successful
 1-2     term as president of the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas
 1-3     (IIAT), and this occasion provides a fitting opportunity to honor
 1-4     the many accomplishments and contributions of this fine gentleman;
 1-5     and
 1-6           WHEREAS, The cofounder of Scarbrough, Medlin & Associates,
 1-7     Mr. Medlin has been involved in the insurance industry for nearly
 1-8     three decades, and his hard work and dedication have earned him the
 1-9     respect and admiration of his colleagues throughout the state; and
1-10           WHEREAS, He is a graduate and Distinguished Alumnus of the
1-11     University of North Texas; he earned a master's degree from the
1-12     University of Dallas and worked for two national insurance agencies
1-13     before opening his own agency in 1982; and
1-14           WHEREAS, A board member of IIAT since 1996, Mr. Medlin has
1-15     served the organization in a number of leadership positions,
1-16     including president-elect in 1999-2000 and chairman of the industry
1-17     relations committee; in addition, he is the former president of the
1-18     Independent Insurance Agents of Dallas and has served as a
1-19     committee member and advisor to the state board of the Texas
1-20     Workers' Compensation Insurance Fund and the Lone Star Insurance
1-21     Company; and
1-22           WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan is also a devoted community
1-23     leader, giving generously of his time and talents to the American
1-24     Red Cross, Young Life of Denton County, Victims' Outreach, and
 2-1     several ecological and wildlife projects; and
 2-2           WHEREAS, Blessed with a close-knit family, Mr. Medlin is
 2-3     looking forward to having more time to spend with his wife, Ann,
 2-4     their daughters, Rebecca Medlin and Andrea Evans, their son-in-law,
 2-5     David Evans, and their treasured grandson, Bailey Evans; and
 2-6           WHEREAS, Mr. Medlin's extensive contributions to the
 2-7     insurance industry in Texas have touched the lives of many people,
 2-8     and it is a privilege to recognize him at this time; now,
 2-9     therefore, be it
2-10           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
2-11     Legislature hereby commend Don Medlin, president of the Independent
2-12     Insurance Agents of Texas, and extend to him sincere best wishes
2-13     for good fortune and happiness in all of his future endeavors; and,
2-14     be it further
2-15           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-16     prepared for Mr. Medlin as an expression of high regard by the
2-17     Texas House of Representatives.
