No. 982 77R15264 PCM-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Jerry and Ann Hays of Henderson will observe their 1-2 50th wedding anniversary this year, and they are being honored by 1-3 their family and friends at a special celebration on May 6, 2001; 1-4 and 1-5 WHEREAS, High school sweethearts, the pair were wed on July 1-6 20, 1951, and far too soon Mr. Hays departed for Korea to serve his 1-7 country while his bride remained in their hometown and finished her 1-8 studies at Henderson High School; and 1-9 WHEREAS, After completing his military service, Mr. Hays 1-10 returned home and, following the couple's move to Katy, he accepted 1-11 a position with Humble Oil Company; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Hays were blessed with two children, 1-13 Donald and Cynthia, during their years in Katy, and they eventually 1-14 settled in Northwest Houston, where Mr. Hays resigned from Humble 1-15 Oil and began a new career after gaining experience in the public 1-16 water industry; and 1-17 WHEREAS, Adding to their happy family, they became the proud 1-18 parents of another daughter, Leesa Fay, in 1965, and five years 1-19 later they realized another dream when they incorporated a business 1-20 under the name of Hays Utility Service Corporation; and 1-21 WHEREAS, In less than a year, Mr. and Mrs. Hays moved to 1-22 Spring where they opened a new office and soon made a name for 1-23 themselves among the land development community as a service 1-24 company that rivaled all others; and 2-1 WHEREAS, Through the years, the business has continued to 2-2 prosper with the opening of a permanent office and shop facility at 2-3 its present location in Spring as well as an office in the 2-4 Conroe-Montgomery area, and Mr. and Mrs. Hays have also experienced 2-5 the joy of watching their children marry and join in the family 2-6 business; and 2-7 WHEREAS, Now retired to the community where their courtship 2-8 began, Jerry and Ann Hays live on the family farm where Jerry was 2-9 born; in reflecting on their marriage, they take great pride in 2-10 their close-knit family, as well as having founded the state's 2-11 largest privately held utility operations company which they built 2-12 together as partners; now, therefore, be it 2-13 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-14 Legislature hereby honor Jerry and Ann Hays on the joyous occasion 2-15 of their 50th wedding anniversary and congratulate them on their 2-16 many blessings; and, be it further 2-17 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-18 prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Hays as an expression of high regard by 2-19 the Texas House of Representatives.
