No. 987 77R14672 MMS-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The family and friends of Corporal James Arvel "Jim" 1-2 Lamance of Cherry Mound in Grayson County sustained a tragic loss 1-3 with his untimely death on December 23, 2000, at the age of 53; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Corporal Lamance was a member of the Whitewright 1-5 Police Department for two years, having joined the force as a 1-6 regular officer after an impressive stint as a reserve policeman; 1-7 his love of the job and affinity for hard work quickly won him the 1-8 respect that is accorded a capable and dedicated law officer; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Highly regarded within the larger family of Grayson 1-10 County law enforcement officers, Corporal Lamance also enjoyed the 1-11 trust and appreciation of the community he served; he was a man who 1-12 could be counted on and who went out of his way to help others; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Devoted to his family, he was a valued member of the 1-14 Baptist Church, a veteran of the United States Navy, and a native 1-15 Texan, having been born February 8, 1947, in Ennis; and 1-16 WHEREAS, Corporal Lamance exemplified the qualities that we 1-17 seek in law enforcement officers--decency, bravery, 1-18 professionalism, and a steady resolve in the face of known and 1-19 unknown dangers; this outstanding officer won the esteem and 1-20 affection of countless colleagues and fellow citizens, and the 1-21 immeasurable gift of his life will forever light the hearts of 1-22 those who cherished him; now, therefore, be it 1-23 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 1-24 Legislature hereby pay special tribute to the life of James Arvel 2-1 "Jim" Lamance and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his 2-2 family: to his wife, Lynnette Lamance; to his daughters and 2-3 son-in-law, Kristi and Ashley Philpott and Jacie Lamance; to his 2-4 grandchildren, Alexyss Philpott and Daniel Philpott; to his father, 2-5 the Reverend H. A. Lamance; to his brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe 2-6 and Cathy Lamance and Kevin and Linda Lamance; to his sisters and 2-7 brothers-in-law, Shelia and Benny Hensley and Pat and Bill Cortner; 2-8 and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further 2-9 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-10 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of 2-11 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of James 2-12 Arvel "Jim" Lamance.
