R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, On April 12, 2001, the residents of Alpine lost a
1-2 treasured friend with the passing of well-known physician Clifton
1-3 R. Pearce at the age of 46; and
1-4 WHEREAS, A native Texan, Dr. Pearce was born in Edinburg on
1-5 May 12, 1954; the beloved son of Allan Ray and Thelma Jean Atwood
1-6 Pearce, he served honorably in the United States Army and
1-7 demonstrated a commitment to the health and well-being of his
1-8 fellowman by earning his medical degree; and
1-9 WHEREAS, In addition, Dr. Pearce enjoyed many years of
1-10 marriage to Shirley Carter Pearce, and the couple were blessed with
1-11 three wonderful children; and
1-12 WHEREAS, Dr. Pearce earned the respect and admiration of his
1-13 neighbors, colleagues, and family through his dedication to his
1-14 career and to the citizens of Texas; he was a man of tremendous
1-15 integrity and compassion, and while he is greatly missed, his
1-16 spirit will assuredly live on in the hearts and minds of the many
1-17 people with whom he shared his life; now, therefore, be it
1-18 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
1-19 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Clifton R. Pearce and
1-20 extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife,
1-21 Shirley Carter Pearce; to his children, Doc Allan Pearce, Allan
1-22 Ross Pearce, and Elena Marie Pearce; to his parents, Allan Ray and
1-23 Thelma Jean Atwood Pearce; to his brother, Terry Allan Pearce; to
1-24 his sisters, Katherine Ann Pearce Hubbard and Ellen Leigh Pearce
2-1 Schwab; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it
2-2 further
2-3 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-4 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
2-5 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Clifton R.
2-6 Pearce.
