No. 993 77R15519 MJS-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor 1-2 St. Luke's Hospital for receiving recognition as a magnet hospital 1-3 from the American Nurses Credentialing Center; and 1-4 WHEREAS, In 1982, the nursing community began a project to 1-5 identify attributes in hospitals that attracted and retained 1-6 well-qualified registered nurses; and 1-7 WHEREAS, The Magnet Hospital Recognition Program, now the 1-8 Magnet Nursing Services Recognition Program for Excellence in 1-9 Nursing Services, was established in 1993 to recognize hospitals 1-10 for their high quality of patient care and retention of qualified 1-11 nurses; since its inception, only 33 facilities nationwide have 1-12 earned this notable distinction, including the prestigious Mayo 1-13 Clinic; and 1-14 WHEREAS, St. Luke's Hospital has worked to create an 1-15 enriching and rewarding environment for its nursing staff and is 1-16 the first acute care hospital facility in Texas to be selected for 1-17 recognition as a magnet hospital; and 1-18 WHEREAS, While many health care facilities in the United 1-19 States are facing a severe nursing shortage, St. Luke's Hospital is 1-20 making valuable and ongoing efforts to promote excellence in the 1-21 workplace; and 1-22 WHEREAS, Designated as a leader in the health care industry 1-23 by the Texas Nurses Association, St. Luke's Hospital has 1-24 consistently gone beyond the call of duty for its patients; this 2-1 outstanding medical facility has also worked hard to meet the 2-2 diverse needs of its registered nurses, and it is most appropriate 2-3 to pay tribute to it at this time; now, therefore, be it 2-4 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-5 Legislature hereby congratulate St. Luke's Hospital on its receipt 2-6 of recognition from the Magnet Nursing Services Recognition Program 2-7 for Excellence in Nursing Services and commend its administration 2-8 and staff for their dedication and devotion to their patients and 2-9 profession; and, be it further 2-10 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-11 prepared for St. Luke's Hospital as an expression of high regard by 2-12 the Texas House of Representatives.
